For healthcare organizations

Everyone says we need to do something with AI. But in healthcare that is different, right?

Answer by vragen.ai

AI that understands healthcare. And knows its limits.

Right. In healthcare, not everything is allowed, and that is how it should be. Vragen.ai gives patients, clients and professionals direct access to reliable information from your own sources. With the source attached, in plain language, and without giving medical advice.

What exactly is vragen.ai?

Example answer by vragen.ai

vragen.ai lets visitors ask their question on your website and gives them a reliable answer straight from your own content, with the source included. You decide which sources the AI uses.

These organizations in Dutch healthcare already use vragen.ai

  • kanker.nl
  • Nederlands Huisartsen Genootschap
  • Huisarts & Wetenschap
  • Nederlands Tijdschrift voor Geneeskunde
  • GGZ Standaarden
  • SKILZ
  • ArboNed

We are already short-staffed. Why spend time on this?

Answer by vragen.ai

Because every question that answers itself gives time back

The Netherlands is aging twice over: demand for care grows while care workers themselves retire. Meanwhile everyone calls, emails and searches with the same questions. About visiting hours, about a treatment, about what the guideline says. Vragen.ai answers those questions directly on your own website, from your own sources. That keeps the phone line free for people who really need a person.

Without change, Dutch healthcare and welfare will be short about 301,000 workers in 2035. And a leaflet or a web page does not reach everyone: 1 in 3 Dutch adults has trouble finding, understanding and applying health information, and patients remember only 20 to 40 percent of what a doctor tells them during a visit.

"Independent when possible, at home when possible, digital when possible." That is the norm the Dutch Ministry of Health set with its WOZO program for housing, support and care for older adults. Self-reliance starts with information people can find and understand themselves, the moment the question comes up. At 11 pm too.

Who are we actually doing this for?

Answer by vragen.ai

For the moments when no one is available

Healthcare is about people. But people rarely have their questions during office hours, and your people cannot be everywhere at once. These are the moments vragen.ai exists for:

Medical receptionist with a headset on the phone behind her screen Mon 08:02

Els, medical receptionist

The phone will not stop ringing. Three out of ten questions: "how do I renew my repeat prescription?"

The website now answers that question itself. Els keeps the line free for those who really need to call.

Woman at her kitchen table late at night, looking at her phone with concern Tue 23:14

Karin, caring for her father

"Dad fell twice today. When should I sound the alarm?"

The practice is closed. On your site she finds what she can do, and when she should call after all.

Nurse consulting a tablet in a nursing home, a resident sitting in the background Wed 15:40

Ahmed, nurse

"What does the guideline say about fall prevention in dementia?" The answer is on page 214.

Ahmed finds the passage in seconds, at the bedside. Judging what it means is still his call.

Older woman at her kitchen table reading information on a tablet Thu 11:20

Joke (78), just back from the specialist

"What were those side effects again?" Half of the conversation is already gone.

At home she reads it back calmly, in plain language, with the source from your own site attached.

Are people really using this for health questions already?

Answer by vragen.ai

Patients have already moved to AI

Nearly a third of the Dutch population consulted AI about health complaints in the past year. Some of them postponed a visit to the doctor because of it. Search behavior has already changed. The only question left: do they find your validated information, or an answer from somewhere else?

32% consulted AI about health complaints in the past year
21% postponed or canceled a doctor's visit partly because of an AI answer
62% worry about what happens to their data

When does an answer suddenly become medical advice?

Answer by vragen.ai

We know that line. It is built into the design.

Software that provides information is different from software with a medical purpose. As soon as a chatbot makes diagnoses or gives personal treatment advice, the rules for medical devices (MDR) and the strictest category of the EU AI Act apply. The Dutch Health and Youth Care Inspectorate asks healthcare providers to introduce generative AI carefully (Dutch). Rightly so. That is why vragen.ai searches your own sources and stops before a diagnosis or a treatment advice. This is what that difference looks like:

What side effects can chemotherapy cause?

Answer by vragen.ai

Chemotherapy can cause fatigue, nausea and a higher risk of infections, among other things. Which side effects you get depends on the drug and the dose. You can read more on the page below.

I feel dizzy. Should I stop taking my medication?

Answer by vragen.ai

That is not something I can judge for you. Do not stop on your own, but check with your doctor or pharmacist: they know your situation and medication. Below you will find how to reach the pharmacy.

No diagnosis, no triage, no treatment advice. Just the way to the right information or care provider. For us that line is not a setting you can forget to switch on, but the starting point of the product.

Our guideline runs to 300 pages. And practice is always slightly different.

The right answer, with the nuance that goes with it

Healthcare never comes straight out of a book. That is why vragen.ai never gives a bare answer: the source is attached, including the context and the caveats from the guideline itself. The nurse at the bedside or the practitioner in the consulting room finds the right passage in seconds and judges what it means for this patient. GGZ Standaarden, SKILZ, the Dutch College of General Practitioners (NHG) and kanker.nl already work with vragen.ai this way: their knowledge becomes findable the moment it is needed.

  • Answers come only from your own guidelines, protocols and pages
  • Source and passage are attached, so every answer can be checked
  • Contraindications and exceptions are not smoothed away
  • The inbox shows you which questions live on the work floor and among patients

Here, care is the standard

That makes sense. Healthcare works with the most sensitive data there is. Vragen.ai was developed by SWIS, which is certified for NEN 7510, the Dutch standard for information security in healthcare, alongside ISO 27001 and ISO 9001. The widget runs on Dutch infrastructure, is built with the GDPR in mind and uses only the sources you point it to. You test its behavior yourself before anything goes live.

There is a deadline coming too. Zilveren Kruis is the first Dutch health insurer to expect care providers to have a clear AI strategy by the end of 2026. Starting with your website is a manageable first step: visible results, without touching the EHR or the primary care process.
