Vragen.ai is inherently smart, but it can be made even smarter with configurations that align with your organization, audience, and channels. Below you can read which settings you can adjust within our RAG system.

📚 1. Configure Knowledge Scopes

Determine which sources may be used when generating answers. This can be done on different levels:

  • Website URLs, PDFs, or intranet pages

  • Specific folders, sections, or document types

  • Scopes per audience or channel (e.g., citizen vs. employee)

🔍 2. Align Search Behavior

By default, Vragen.ai searches contextually (semantically), but you can influence the behavior:

  • Search only within recent documents

  • Restrict search results to specific terms

  • Prioritize certain sources (e.g., current documents)

🔧 This helps prevent outdated or irrelevant answers.

🧠 3. Set Generation Approach

You can determine how the answer is generated:

  • Summarize: Short, concise answer with source citation

  • Paraphrase: Clear rephrasing of existing content

  • Quote: Direct quotes from the source (optional per channel)

⚙️ Choose the variant that fits your tone of voice and risk profile.

✍️ 4. Answer Style & Tone of Voice

Adjust the writing style of the answer — formal, friendly, clear, business-like, or informal. Consider:

  • Citizen-oriented: calm, explanatory, with example sentences

  • Internal use: task-oriented and concise

  • Legal or policy-related: precise and careful

🧩 This is arranged via the system prompt and is easy to adjust.

✨ 5. Prompt Tuning & Instructions

Do you want to give specific rules to the system? Then you can add instructions such as:

  • “Always refer to the source at the bottom.”

  • “Never answer medical questions.”

  • “Answer in the informal form, unless it's a formal letter.”

  • “Only add a search link if there is no direct answer.”

🎛 This offers maximum control over how the AI system behaves.

🧩 6. Manage Example Questions

Provide users with a flying start by adding example questions to the window:

  • Per audience (external / internal)

  • Per page or embed location

  • Dynamic or manually adjustable

🚨 7. Set Fallback Behavior

No answer found? Then you can set:

  • What is said (“I'm not sure, but you can search here...”)

  • Whether a search link or manual contact option is displayed

  • Whether the system can say something is unknown
