QSTA director Rian Faaij sees AI as an opportunity to grow faster without relying on manual input. His goal: a platform that thinks along with you. Where a question about recipes or trending ingredients directly leads to the right products.
QSTA.AI: their own AI search assistant
QSTA has integrated the technology of vragen.ai into their own platform and renamed it QSTA.AI. An AI search assistant that directly helps food professionals with their questions. This allows chefs and restaurant owners to ask questions about everything on QSTA.nl: recipes, ingredients, background information, and thousands of products. It doesn't feel like searching but like talking to someone who understands their world.

Good technology is not enough, people need to understand what they can do with it.
After an initial configuration, we launched a vragen.ai page, integrated into the QSTA menu. The technology worked well, but visibility could be better. Together with QSTA, we looked at how we could make the new search experience clearer for visitors.
The result: a redesign of the header and hero, where the promise of QSTA and the power of the improved search bar are immediately visible. A simple change that invites asking rather than searching. Currently, only the hero including the search bar and sample questions are live on QSTA.nl.
Discovering what is in demand
Vragen.ai runs on the knowledge of QSTA.nl itself but continuously learns. When visitors frequently ask for something that is not yet in the knowledge base, the team immediately knows where new content is needed. An example: several visitors asked for a recipe for iced matcha. That wasn't on the website yet, but it is now.

Every answer is fully traceable
On the backend, vragen.ai records a trace of the steps our RAG-AI technology takes, both when searching for available sources and when formulating the answer. This gives QSTA full insight into how an answer comes about and helps to discover and remove outdated or incorrect content in a timely manner. With the trace function, we can also more quickly identify which settings need to be changed.
Innovation is about having courage
QSTA proves that innovation is not about bigger budgets, but about courage. About daring to experiment, collaborate, and learn in the open field. Their vragen.ai integration is just the beginning of something bigger: a future where users no longer get lost in filters but find their way effortlessly through natural language.
Looking Ahead
QSTA.AI has just been launched, but the ambitions are high. For Wouter, it's about convenience and experience: “It's still a search function where you can ask questions, but I see it becoming more and more specific. Within a year, I want you to be able to ask questions directly about the product or recipe you are viewing anywhere on the site.”
